Tacheng was located in the northeast of Weixi Country, belong to the area of Jingsha River. Tacheng itself is part of Three Parallel Rivers YunnanProtected Areas. Being the intersection of Weixi, Deqin, Lijiang and Shangri-la counties, and the place where “The crowing can be heard in all four counties”.

Tacheng with plenty of travel resources , splendid cultural heritage and spectacular nature landscape benefit by it’s geographic location and outstanding human relics.  You can even see the Rhinopithecus bieti across the forest, which was rare species from recording.

Due to the largest river of Weixi Country Lapu River crosses the whole Tacheng Town, the weather on both banks of the river is quite pleasing, and formed a fertile climate in Tacheng. As the famous home of grain in Tibetan area, besides rice, it also produces chestnut, walnut, persimmon and other fresh fruits. Tubo of Tang Dynasty set up the governor office here, historically “Tang Biao Iron Post” and “Yuan Kua Ge Nang” were played here, and it is the place that every army wants to control. In historical view , Tacheng is famous for having a lot of living Buddha in history, and there are many Buddhist relics. Tacheng Town is the place where Tibetan is the main nationality. Different from plateau Tibetans, they mainly engage in the agricultural production and cattle husbandry. Historically, it has the custom of “taking a woman for marriage by force”

The main scenic spots in Tacheng are Tacheng Golden Monkey National Park and Dharma Cave.
