Tengchong Beihai Wetland


Tengchong Beihai Wetland ( located in the 12.5km northwest of Tengchong county which was list on the  "China National Wetland Conservation List" in 1994 and is one of the 33 key conservation wetlands of China. This reserve is formed by 2 natural lakes Qiaghai and Beihai with an area of 16.3 square kilometer. The whole region is surrounded by mountains, and categorized into the eco system of plateau volcanic barrier lake. Numerous lush water plants are interwoven and are continuously thriving. Day after day, year after year, old plants decompose and new plants sprout, finally becoming 1-2 meter-thick meadows, like small grass islands floating above the water. The most beautiful season of here is every April to May. The Iris and other wild flowers are fully blooming here. The wetland look like a colorful giant blanket. The wetland will change into golden in autumn but are still charming to see. The aroma of grass is floating in the air and wild ducks are quacking from the reeds. Come to the wetland, visitors will for sure experience the gorgeousness and mystical essence of the nature.
