14 Days Grand China culture and history tour to Beijing, Luoyang, Xi’an, Kunming, Lijiang and Chengdu

In this 14 days trip, you will explore the splendid landscapes and culture of China. It covers the MUST-SEE attractions in each city including the Forbidden City, the Great Wall in Beijing and Longmen Grottoes ans Shaolin Temple, the Terra Cotta Army Warriors and Horses of Xi’an. Then heading to South China to the spring city Kunming for the spectacular Stone forest,Lijiang Old town and Tiger Leaping Gorge and and to see the Panda in Chengdu for the last destionation.

Day 1 Beijing- Arrival (-/-/-)

Arrive at Beijing airport, be welcomed by your guide at exit, then transfer to hotel.

Overnight at Beijing.

Day 2 Beijing (B/L/-)

This morning, take a walk on Tianmen Square. Located at the center of Beijing City, It is one of the largest square in the word and a must place for any visit in Beijing City. 

And visit the Forbidden City. It was the place where the emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasties carried out their administration and lived. Now it is open to the public as a palace museum where people can see the great traditional palace architecture, enjoythe treasures kept in the palace.

Afternoon, discover Summer Palace.It is a favorite among tourists sightseeing in

Beijing. Indeed, it is one of the best parks in the city. Originally it was a retreat for

emperors to escape the scorching summer heat of Beijing.

Day 3 Beijing (B/L/-)

In the morning, drive to visit Great Wall (Ju Yong Guan Section) (Ju Yong Guan Pass is located in an 18 kilometer-long valley named "Guangou" which is inside Changping County more than 50 kilometers from Beijing City. It is one of the three greatest passes of Great Wall of China. The other two passes are Jiayuguan Pass and Shanhai Pass. 

In the afternoon, drive to visit Changling Tomb of Ming Tombs. Located Some 50 kilometers northwest of the capital, otherwise known as the “13 Tombs”, this is the burial site of 13 out of 17 emperors of the Ming Dynasty. The best part of the Ming Tombs is the Sacred Path. Changling, (the chief of the Ming Tombs, is the largest in scale and is completely preserved.),

Then drive back to Beijing.

Day 4 Beijing-Luoyang (B/L/-)

This morning visit Temple of Heaven,a masterpiece built in 1420 where the feudal emperors hold a great ceremony for praying and performing ritual

sacrifices for achieving the best results.  

Later move to Shichahai area behind Beihai Park for Hutong tour. First take rickshaw going around the deep Hutong in Shichahai area, visiting an ordinary family in a courtyard. Then ascend the drum tower and have a bird's eye view of the old Beijing - Shichahai area.

After the tour, take the high speed train to Luoyang G663 (15:45-19:57).

Upon arrival,be welcomed by the local guide and drive to check in your hotel.

Day 5 Dec.20 Luoyang-Shaolin Temple- Luoyang (B/L/-)

This morning drive about to discover Shaolin Temple (it is probably the most famous temple in China, not only because of its long history and its role in Chinese Buddhism, but also because of its martial arts or Wushu. Shaolin Temple was established in 495 during the Northern Wei Dynasty (386-534). Batuo, an Indian monk, came to Luoyang, the ancient capital, for spreading Buddhism at that period.)  

Afterward move to Kong Fu school nearby to enjoy the Kong Fu show

Finally drive back to your hotel in Luoyang.

Day 6 Luoyang-Xi’an (B/L/-)

Go to visit Longmen Grottoes (The world-famous Longmen Grottoes are located 12 km south of Luoyang. Spanning a length of over 1,000 meters on the hillsides along the Yi River, the Longmen Grottoes, together with the Mogao Caves in Dunhuang (Gansu Province) and the Yungang Grottoes (Shanxi Province), are reputed as the three greatest stone sculpture treasure houses in China. In the year 2000, Longmen Grottoes was listed by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage Site).

After lunch, transfer to railway station for the high speed train to Xi'an (G833 14:35-16:16)

Day 7 Xi’an (B/L/-)

In the morning take an excursion to the Terra Cotta Army Warriors and Horses. It is one of the three most significant archeological excavations of the 20th century. It is a sight not to be missed by any visitor to China. There are many life size terracotta figures of warriors and horses arranged in battle formations. The Terracotta Army was buried with Qin Shi Huangdi, in 210 BC, in order to guard the remnants of the emperor and all the treasures that were buried with him in the necropolis. The necropolis itself reproduces an imperial compound or palace with offices, halls and other structures surrounded by a wall.

Drive back to Xi’an city, visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. It is situated in the Da Ci'en Temple, known as the best-preserved Buddhist temple complex, four kilometers away from the center of the city. It is one of the city's most distinctive and outstanding landmarks, possibly the most beautiful building left in Xian today.)

Later walk around the Muslim Street to try the different kind of local snacks

Day 8 Xi’an -Lijiang (B/-/-)

Morning take the early flight to Lijiang

Pick up from airport , transfer to visit Black Dragon Pond . As the water here is a lucid green color, it gained another name Jade Spring Park (Yuquan Park) and Dongba Culture Museum to know about the culture of Nanxi people

Later have the tour of Lijiang Dayan Old Town (a well-preserved old city of ethnic minorities with brilliant culture. Located on the plateau which is 2,400 meters above the sea level, the old town looks like a big jade ink slab, therefore got the alias the Town of Big Ink Slab. Lijiang was placed on the world cultural heritage list in 1997.).

Day 9 Lijiang (B/L/-)

Today drive north to Tiger Leaping Gorge via Qiaotou along the Yunnan-Tibetan road. After around 2hrs’driving, you will take a stop on the way to make a bird view of The First Bend of the Yangtze River, a world-famous geological phenomenon and an extraordinary panoramic scene whose vistas you will long remember with great pleasure. 

Later make the tour of the Tiger Leaping Gorge (Tiger Leaping Gorge (Hutiao Gorge), which is believed to be the deepest gorge in the world. From the top of the gorge you look down the steeply angled (70-90 degrees) mountain sides to the rushing Golden Sands (Jingsha) River with its 18 frothing rapids more than 200 meters (about 700 feet) below.

After the tour transfer back to Lijiang.

Day 10 Lijiang-Kunming (B/L/-)

Morning transfer to visit the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain It is the southernmost glacier in the Northern Hemisphere. Consisting of 13 peaks, among which Shanzidou is the highest one with an altitude of 5,600 meter.with a chair lift ride to up and down to visit the Spruce Meadow (3450m ) this place is a quiet grass field. The place is very peaceful and devoid of crowd. Most people say that this place is comparable to Switzerland and Sweden when it comes to its mountainous beauty. Later enjoy the outdoor show "Imperss Lijiang" 

In the afternoon,then take a nice walk around the Baisha Village and visit Baisha Fresco (The greatest feature of the frescos is the syncretism. Figures of Buddism, Taoism and Lamaism are painted together, which is peculiar in the world.) before transfer to railway for the high speed train to Kunming (3hrs running) 

After arrive at Kunming, transfer to check in your hotel.

Day 11 Kunming (B/L/-)

In the morning, transfer to discover Stone Forest is most important attractions of Yunnan. It is about 90km away from Kunming. The difference types of limestone of here is isolated, exquisite and beautiful, showing its unique charm. It became the member in the list of World Nature Heritage in June , 2007.)

Afterward, head back Kunming to visit Yuantong Temple(it is the earliest Buddhist temple for Goddess of Mercy in China which was first build over 1200 years ago. Adopting the style of garden architecture which typical of the south of the Yangtze River region in the building of a solemn Buddhist temple is unique feature of the temple. )

Later have a nice walk in Green Lake Park  (which is one of the most picturesque park in downtown Kunming. The name Green Lake is come from the green lake water and green bamboo of the park all year around.The park is always worth a visiting. There are also has many excellent restaurants around the park. )

Day 12 Kunming - Chengdu (B/-/-)

Morning flight to Chengdu. Upon arrival, pick up and transfer to Leshan (2hrs ) , you will take the river cruise for about 40m at the Leshan Giant Buddha,which is the largest stone Buddha in the world. It’s a Taoist temples with rock carvings and wall murals. The height of the Buddha is 10 storeys, which means hundreds of monks can sit in just one foot. It takes 90 years and hundreds of works to cave back to ancient China history. After tour , drive back to Chengdu.

Day 13 Chengdu (B/L/-)

In the morning, visit Giant Panda Breeding & Research Center, the center has two types of 'accommodations' for giant pandas - the Captive Cages and the Semi-nature Enclosures. Most of the giant pandas in the Center stay individually in the captive cages, which are in fact large enclosures, each consists of an in-door room and an out-door courtyard. The semi-nature enclosures are very large wild areas but protected by border fences. Then visit Wuhou Memorial Temple, which is the best-preserved Buddhist temple in Chengdu. It is the home of the Buddhist Association of Sichuan Province and Chengdu City. Initially built in the Tang Dynasty (618-907). After that, you will drink a cup of tea in exquisite tea house in People’s Park, Chengdu. The central park of Chengdu is beautifully landscaped with plenty of eye-catching activity and a few secluded areas of respite.

Day 14 Chengdu departure

Free time today before a transfer airport for your departure flight to next destination.
